House Tour: Sofia's Flea Market Style
I get so excited when I take a new firm tour to share. It feels a little scrap similar Christmas: similar a wee gift to unwrap during the week. So, here's your gift… Today, we are peering in to the home of designer (and artist) Sofia Barao of Sbarao bazaar, a shop filled with all kinds of beautiful things (crocheted jewelry and accessories, mixed media artwork, and the occasional piece of vintage wear).
Not just did Sofia concord to share her home with everyone, she also answered a few of my questions. Here's our mini interview (and a couple images of Sofia's work besides)…
-Tell united states about yourself.
My names Sofia Im a Portuguese artist-designer, and I alive now in France with my French hubby. We live virtually Paris, about 45 minutes abroad. Our pretty town is between a forest and a river and several small lakes. I piece of work part time at a museum and the rest of the fourth dimension I create.
I telephone call myself a maker and a daydreamer. I love to create all the time. Whether it is with paints, paper, fabric, yarns, leather, common cold porcelain, feathers or any I tin get my hand on. I mostly work with vintage supplies, dead stocks and small stocks; I specially love to create unique pieces. I have a passion for literature, especially poetry. Sometimes I need to write equally I need to breath and when that happens I tin write for months every 24-hour interval.
-How would you draw your design style?
I dont really think I have a design style. Or maybe yes because nigh of the things are from flea markets. I beloved vintage and so here in France and especially around Paris I actually am lucky to have such wonderful flea markets. I always detect something whenever I become.
-What is your favorite decorative chemical element in your home?
I dear the large Paris school map I accept higher up my sofa. Information technology is from the 40s-fifty, and I found it for aught at a flea market also.
-And how has having such a creative career inspired yous in decorating your home?
I approximate that when you have a creative career it reflects a bit on your homes decoration, but non ever. I can say it does at my domicile when I go to my friends houses or when they come to visit me because in terms of decoration nosotros dont actually take the same type of deco at all.
I need to have things that I love around me, and as well things that inspire me that will inspire my work. I likewise think that I have likewise many things around, I simply cant throw anything away and then I accumulate and accumulation leads to cosmos"¦near every time, so its like a circle, I need whats in my dwelling house to create and my home needs my creations to continue to aggrandize.
